EXPRESSION, Centre d’exposition de Saint-Hyacinthe

EXPRESSION, Centre d’exposition de Saint-Hyacinthe

Founded in 1985, EXPRESSION’s mandate is to preserve and promote works of contemporary art among the Maskoutaine (Saint-Hyacinthe region), Quebec and Canadian communities, with the objective of establishing a dialogue with the population and the visitors. Research and theoretical questioning nourish the artistic productions presented at EXPRESSION and echo current aesthetic issues in Quebec, Canada and abroad. Based on the observation that artists make ample reference to the society from which they come, the artistic direction of EXPRESSION has taken the path of presenting works that appeal to the population, in this case through psychosocial and philosophical concerns: gender, interpersonal relationships, eating habits, the environment, occupation of the territory, the notion of identity, spirituality.
In addition to exhibitions, there are educational services and the publishing of publications, conferences, guided tours and other mediation projects. All of these activities aim to promote the work of Canadian artists, while making contemporary art more accessible to audiences of all generations, all cultures and beliefs.

For educational and enjoyment purposes, EXPRESSION promotes contemporary art through exhibitions, mediation, publications and collections. In this spirit, the organization asserts itself as a promoter of social dialogue and contributes to the vitality of its community.

EXPRESSION, Exhibition Center is located on the 2nd floor of 1555 Saint-Hyacinthe Public Market.
