The Center d’histoire de Saint-Hyacinthe was born from the merger of the Center d’archives du Séminaire de Saint-Hyacinthe and the Société d’histoire régionale de Saint-Hyacinthe. In January 2004, the new organization therefore took possession of the same powers, equipment, documentation and was entrusted with the responsibility for the acquisition, processing, conservation and accessibility of both historical and genealogical archives. In addition, its mandate is to promote and encourage the study of history by organizing various activities for its members and the general public.
The History Center deals with the genealogy service, research and conservation of archives as well as the history of the city and the region.
